The Physical Education (P.E.) program will prepare you to pursue a career in P.E. or in the sports and fitness management industry. As a P.E. major, you will choose to concentrate in either teaching or sports and fitness management.
The teaching concentration will prepare you to teach P.E. at both elementary and secondary schools. You will learn theoretical principles of education, teaching techniques and curriculum development. You will also participate in field experiences in local schools and student teach in order to gain hands-on experience.
The sports and fitness management concentration will prepare you to work in both small business and large corporate settings in a variety of positions, from personal trainer to business owner. You will learn business fundamentals, exercise theories and teaching techniques. You will also complete an internship with a fitness or recreation center to gain real-world experience in the industry.
