The Theatre School's Playwriting program will help you explore and develop your voice as a writer and provide you with the primary tools of dramatic writing through classroom instruction, workshops and production experiences.

Courses in Playwriting include:

You will have the opportunity to participate in The Theatre School's productions as an assistant director or dramaturg. You can also have your scripts workshopped in the annual Wrights of Spring playwriting festival.

In the third year of the program, you will complete an independent study that is tailored toward your interests and career goals, under the guidance of a Playwriting faculty member.

At the end of your fourth year, you will have the chance to take part in the annual Graduate Showcase, where you will present your portfolio to artistic directors and other members of the theatre, film an​d television industries.

Playwriting faculty members are professional playwrights, dramaturges, directors and arts writers, giving you opportunities to learn first-hand from industry professionals.
