The Stage Management program offers a blend of training in the management, design and technical aspects of theatre. You will learn to communicate with theatre personnel and manage all areas of production, as well as collaborate with directors, designers, actors and administrative personnel.
The Stage Management program curriculum includes courses in:
- Costume design
- Lighting technology
- Musical theatre
- Sound design
- Stage direction
- Roles and responsibilities of stage managers
- Survey of art, architecture, fashion and furniture
- Technical drawing
- Theatre management
You will have the opportunity to participate in The Theatre School’s productions as assistant stage manager or stage manager. During your fourth year, you will have the opportunity to complete a professional internship to gain first-hand knowledge of the roles of managerial staff in the theatre industry.
Stage Management faculty members are industry professionals, including designers, artists and technicians, giving you the opportunity to learn from those with real-world experience.
