In the Theatre Management program, you will be exposed to both the art and business aspects of theatre, preparing you for a career in arts administration and arts management.
The Theatre Management program curriculum combines theatre courses with management and marketing courses. As a Theatre Management major, you will take courses in:
- Advancement/community engagement
- Business/company management
- Business plan development
- Culture of theatre production
- Dramatic criticism
- Financial management
- Human resources
- Managerial concepts and practices
- Script analysis
- Theatre crew
You will participate in The Theatre’s School’s public productions, taking on various management positions. You will also complete multiple professional internships to gain real-world experience in the theatre management industry.
The Theatre Management program also offers the New York City Intensive, a one-week independent study in New York City, America’s commercial theatre capital. You will meet with producers, company managers, and active DePaul alumni in the industry, as well as tour famous theatres and museums.
Theatre Management faculty members are directors, artists, designers and managers, allowing you to learn first-hand from industry professionals.
